Hope deferred makes the heart sick  The Old Testament Book of Wisdom says, “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12 KJV.

Other translations read: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life” (NIV). “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy” (NLT).
